Historic hot springs heritage
Murrieta has deep roots in Southern California history, with heritage extending back to the 1870s.

Murrieta was founded in 1873 and was named after Juan Murrieta, a Californio who acquired land in the area during that era. The town was incorporated more than a century later, on July 1, 1991, as part of the region's late-20th-century development boom. Before modern suburbanization, the area had a smaller, more dispersed population characteristic of rural Southern California.
The history of Murrieta reflects the broader transformation of the Inland Empire from agricultural and ranching land to one of the fastest-growing metropolitan regions in the United States. This change accelerated after the completion of Interstate 15 in the early 1980s, which opened the region to commuter communities. In less than three decades from incorporation to 2020, Murrieta grew from a town of roughly 45,000 to over 100,000 residents.
Understanding your community's trajectory—from small town to thriving city—also means understanding the financial needs that come with growth. As Murrieta families plant roots in this growing city, they build mortgages, start businesses, and plan for the futures of children born into a very different Murrieta than their parents knew. Life insurance keeps that progress secure.
